Along with the district's designation in 1978, the Municipal Co
uncil also established the Historic Preservation Committee (HPC). The duties of the committee are outlined in City Ordinance and include working to protect and preserve the District through project review and the issuance of a Certificate of Appropriateness for all exterior modifications to any site or building within the District's Boundaries. For a project to be approved by the HPC, it must meet the principles outlined by federal law (Secretary of the Interior's Standards for Rehabilitation).  The Committee meets (as needed) on the 1st and 3rd Monday of each month at 12:00 Noon in the Logan Council Chambers located at 290 North 100 West.

Historic District Design Standards.
The Logan Municipal Council adopted the boundaries for the Center Street Historic District in 1978.  The district is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The City of Logan recently worked with Io Design Collaborative to update the Historic District Design Standards. The update was guided by a Steering Committee, comprised of members of the Historic Preservation Commission, Planning Commission, City Council, City Administration and general public and includes a comprehensive review and update of the existing guidelines with an emphasis on current best practices and technological and materials innovations which are appropriate and acceptable under the Secretary of the Interior's Standards.
